Why I had to have a fashion blog!

We all have hobbies -
mine happens to be 'Collector' of clothes!
Captivated by Clothes, fanatical for footwear, bedazzled by bags and a fervent fan of fashion!

When I decided to start blogging, I knew I had to include a blog on fashion.  I have always been passionate about clothes and shoes. Actually, very keen too on bags, belts and jewellery.  I feel too that coats, hats and scarves should never be over-looked!  So you see, I am pretty hooked and I don't ever seem to get bored of the topic, unlike my husband who doesn't really understand my shoe fetish and why I would want to be a 'collector' of clothes.  I describe myself as a collector because that gives me the excuse of keeping the many items that fill my wardrobes and also offers the excuse of receiving more - if I stopped getting clothes then I would at that moment stop being a collector.  The term collector also puts my continued interest into the category of 'hobby' which is a very acceptable pastime (my husband also has hobbies, all of which I'm happy for him to indulge in too!)

A favourite dress of mine...
15 years old  and I still love it!
The joy of being a collector also means that I have some items in my wardrobe that I have had for as many as 15 years.  One such item is a favourite dress that I bought in Miss Selfridge.  It's cream, with narrow horizontal navy stripes, spaghetti straps and it's also a maxi dress - a style that has made a resurgence over the last few years.  What huge satisfaction there is in getting something out of the wardrobe that 'works' in terms of current trends and that won't be worn by anyone else.  Fashion for me is about reflecting current trends in a way that suits you (a must!) and enables personal expression and originality.  This isn't always entirely possible; just last summer I bought a dress in the spring, by the summer it felt as though every other person had something almost identical.  A great tip if you are looking for originality is to buy on-line from retailers that are not in your area and don't be a 'slave' to fashion - if you purchase clothes that suit your shape and possibly not others as oppose to buying regardless of how it looks, (you're determined to have it because it's 'in') then this also reduces the chances of feeling as though you are looking in a mirror as you walk down the high street.
J'adore le weekend - J'adore vêtements!
How an outfit is styled is equally as important to me as a 'collector' of clothes.  Again, this is about personal preference and choice but for me this is what can make an outfit unique.  I think carefully about what I put together and consider jewellery, bags and shoes to complete the look.   I do have days too, where I put on tried and tested favourite combinations and days that I don't have time to think long and hard about which earrings or what shoes!  I do have a favourite sweatshirt and a pair of Converses that I go back to at the weekend at a time when I'm happy to enjoy a slow-paced comfy Saturday but you see even then, I'm still choosing clothes that reflect my day and my mood (a sign that clothes etc. truly are my hobby!).

My Ruby red shoes that are sure to take me to Kansas
as well as Milan, Paris and finishing up in London...
where is my fairy shoe-mother when I need her?
My fashion blog, as with all of my blogs is an opportunity for me to express my interests and ask you to share yours too.  I plan to blog about trends on the high street; on-line bargains and shoes will definitely make an imprint on these posts.  Ever since I got rid of a pair of black heels that I bought in Italy on my honeymoon I have regretted this ill-thought hasty error.  I treat my shoe collection as fashion royalty, deserving respect and an enduring position within my wardrobe!
